Saeco Talea Provides an Easy Way to Make Coffee Drinks at Home

Milk Island Feature Brings the Coffee House to Home Countertops

CLEVELAND – May 1, 2007 – Saeco, a leading manufacturer of espresso machines, continues to cater to the unique
needs of coffee enthusiasts with the launch of its Talea line. The Talea is one of three new lines being released in
2007. Together the lines feature seven products, all designed for consumers who want the luxury of enjoying the
perfect cup of coffee within the comfort of their own homes.

All three of Saeco’s new lines have been designed by BMW Group DesignworksUSA, making the machine a sleek,
contemporary appliance. The design of the user interface makes coffee house style drinks at home a touch away.
These unique control panels give each Talea machine its name: the Talea Touch with touch screen operation, the
Talea Ring Plus with LCD display and touch ring interface as seen on mp3 players, and the Talea Giro, Italian for
gear, which operates at the turn of a dial.

Standard one-touch functions include control of the coffee dose, strength, size and the exclusive new technology
of a Milk Island for perfect froth. Compared to competitive products that push the milk inside the machine to froth,
Talea’s Milk Island draws steam to an external glass pitcher making cleaning and upkeep easy.

“The invention of the Milk Island ensures all Talea machines will return the perfect froth,” says John McCann, CEO
of Saeco USA. “Using the expertly frothed milk in a coffee drink allows consumers to indulge like never before.
Our customers can make cappuccinos, lattes, macchiatos and other drinks just like a professional barista.”

The Saeco Talea machines also include the following features for personalized taste and easy operation:

  • The patented Saeco Brewing System allows the user to control the strength and consistency of a coffee at the turn of a dial from a syrupy, ristretto shot of espresso to a mild coffee.

  • The Saeco OptiDose allows the user to adjust the amount of beans to grind per serving so a single cup can range from 7-10.5 grams of coffee.

  • Users can also adjust the size of a cup, brewing a small shot to a tall morning coffee and the Touch Lift Technology of the drip tray accommodates any size mug.

  • The ceramic disc grinder, created and patented by Saeco, provides the best way to achieve an even grind and is considerably quieter than the average burr grinder. Ceramic is also the ideal material for a grinder because it is impervious to absorbing the coffee bean flavor or fragrance and does not wear down with use.

The Saeco Talea super-automatic home espresso machines include the Talea Touch, Talea Ring Plus and Talea Giro
and are all part of the newest Saeco machines designed by BMW Group DesignworksUSA. Additional product lines
include Primea and Odea.

The Talea machines are available this fall at a suggested retail price of $1,000 - $2,100. For more information on
